  • Date: 02/11/2026 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
  • Location: QT Pride Space SYRE216

We invite you to join the Simpson Intercultural Center for our upcoming Talkin' History event with Dr. Jen McFarlane Harris, Executive Director for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA).
This Talkin’ History event will examine how Black artists use graphic novels, album covers, creative nonfiction, ink-jet prints, and other media to transform violence and trauma into stunning art. Through searing words and re-presentation of images, artists like Ta-Nehisi Coates, Claudia Rankine, Mat Johnson, Ben Harper, and Kerry James Marshall ask audiences to think carefully about violence against Black bodies and Black communities, from the brutal history of lynching in America to the fervent hope of activism.

Please be advised: Due to the nature of this topic, some discussion and images will be graphic in nature.
