We invite you to join the Simpson Intercultural Center for our upcoming Talkin' History event. Talkin’ History is a programming series intended to highlight the importance of knowing our roots and understanding the historical causes for why things are the way they are. To better understand our current reality, we must engage with the past and consider which stories are being told, which ones are not, and how that shapes our collective memory. Our aim is to bring to the campus community historical narratives that have been underrepresented, obscured, or misused.

Our next Talkin’ History event will be led by River Carter, Intercultural Center Peer Navigator and founder of the ASWCC Native and Indigenous Student Union. River will be discussing the importance of Billy Frank Jr. (1931-2014) to local native communities and the significance of the Fish Wars in the fight for treaty rights recognition.
