President's Award & Laidlaw Nominations 2020

Post Date:04/22/2020 3:20 pm

The President’s Award and the Laidlaw Award are intended to recognize the achievements of WCC graduates who have accumulated exceptional records as students. The President’s Award is primarily focused on outstanding academic achievement; finalists will also have an impressive record of service to the college and/or to the campus and surrounding community. The Laidlaw Award, named in honor of Whatcom’s second president, William J. Laidlaw, is primarily focused on students’ record of service and their personal growth and development, as Dr. Laidlaw greatly admired these qualities; applicants must also have accumulated a strong record of academic success. Each award consists of a plaque and a monetary prize. The awards will be presented to the recipients at WCC’s Honors and Awards Ceremony on June 11th.

Eligibility: Any student is eligible for either award who will have successfully completed requirements for an AAS, AS-T, AA, AS, or ALS degree between summer quarter 2019 and the end of spring quarter 2020. A student may be nominated for both awards. Students who have transferred from other institutions are eligible for both awards, though achievement and contributions at Whatcom will be the primary basis for selecting and judging finalists.

Please submit nominations to the Foundation Office by emailing by Monday, April 27 at 5:00 pm.
