Attention graduates! Apply to be this year's commencement speaker or singer

Whatcom Community College's 2020 commencement ceremony will be held virtually! The College is seeking applications for this year's student commencement speaker and National Anthem singer.

To serve as the 2020 commencement speaker, students must:

  • Be on track to complete required qualifications for Spring Quarter 2020 graduation
  • Attend and fully participate in all commencement activities
  • Work with WCC Faculty to refine speech and practice delivery
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Be comfortable speaking in front of approximately 1,000 people
  • Complete this online application by May 8, 2020

 

To serve as the 2020 National Anthem Singer, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled at WCC or eligible to participate in the 2020 commencement ceremony (preference will be given to graduating students)
  • Be comfortable singing in front of approximately 1,000 people
  • Attend and fully participate in all commencement activities
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 
  • Be familiar with The Star-Spangled Banner musical selection 
  • Possess performance ability including poise, pitch, and clarity
  • Complete this online application by May 8, 2020
