Post Date:04/24/2026 1:31 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Whatcom Community College (WCC) will hold Orca Pod Day, inviting prospective students to campus to meet with faculty, advisors, and current students to learn about WCC’s programs and campus community on Thursday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon on WCC’s campus at the Syre Student Center.

A special highlight of the event will be the presentation of direct admission letters from the College President, offering immediate recognition and a meaningful start to students’ academic journeys at WCC.

“Orca Pod Day reflects WCC’s commitment to supporting student success and building meaningful connections from the very beginning of a student’s journey,” said Dr. Justin Guillory, WCC President. “We are excited to welcome future students to our campus, help them explore their goals and the many opportunities available to them, and invite them to join a community, where they can learn, grow, and thrive.”

Orca Pod Day features a variety of tables hosted by different academic departments and student services, giving attendees the chance to explore program offerings, ask questions, and learn more about what WCC has to offer. The event provides a valuable opportunity for prospective students to engage directly with faculty and staff while gaining insight into their educational pathways. Additionally, there will be program information; attendees can learn about scholarship opportunities, financial support, and student clubs and athletic opportunities. Participants will also have the chance to enter a raffle for an opportunity to win a scholarship on the spot.

Nubia Robles, WCC Director for Outreach & Community Engagement said, “Our goal is to give prospective students an authentic look at Whatcom Community College, from small class sizes to affordable pathways to four-year degree programs, we want them to see their future here and feel confident taking the next step.”
