Governor Appoints Tonja Myers to Whatcom Community College Board of Trustees
BELLINGHAM, WA — Whatcom Community College is pleased to announce that Governor Bob Ferguson has appointed Tonja Myers, Executive Director of Christian Health Care Center in Lynden, to the College's Board of Trustees.
Myers brings more than three decades of healthcare leadership and extensive experience in workforce development, governance, and strategic planning. As Executive Director of Christian Health Care Center, she has dedicated her career to serving older adults and strengthening the healthcare workforce across Northwest Washington.
Throughout her career as a nursing home administrator, Myers has seen firsthand the importance of a highly skilled healthcare workforce and the essential role community colleges play in preparing nurses, therapists, and allied health professionals.
"My career has shown me that the quality of care our communities receive begins with high-quality education and training," said Myers. "Many of the professionals who serve our region every day begin their careers at Whatcom Community College. I am honored to have the opportunity to support the College's mission and help strengthen the partnerships between education and employers that prepare students for meaningful careers."
In addition to her healthcare leadership, Myers has served for more than 15 years on the Northwest Workforce Council Board, including as Board Chair. Her experience includes governance, strategic planning, fiduciary oversight, and advancing regional workforce initiatives that connect education with employer needs.

As a trustee, Myers will help guide the College's strategic direction, oversee institutional policy, and ensure the College continues to fulfill its mission of advancing student success and serving the educational and workforce needs of Whatcom County and beyond.
The Whatcom Community College Board of Trustees consists of five members appointed by the Governor of Washington. Trustees serve five-year terms and provide governance and strategic leadership for the College while advancing its mission to improve student success, strengthen communities, and support regional economic vitality.
