Melissa Tamminga earned her Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of British Columbia in 2000. Melissa is a staff writer for Seattle Screen Scene and, in addition to writing film reviews for the site, she has covered the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival. She has also been a guest host on the Filmspotting podcast and was a presenter for the West of What?! Westerns series at the Pickford Film Center. Some of Melissa’s favorite filmmakers are Wong Kar-Wai, Jane Campion, Claire Denis, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, and Hayao Miyazaki. At WCC, in addition to literature and composition classes, she teaches Film 194: Introduction to Alfred Hitchcock (a course she designed), Film 130: History of Film, and Film 101: Introduction to Film.
