Visual communications at Whatcom
Whatcom’s visual communications program prepares students for careers in the print, web, and digital media design fields. The curriculum balances the development of conceptual and visual problem solving skills with the development of technical skills and knowledge of current industry practices.
Program instructors are professionals in the field and bring their expertise into the classroom. The program courses are taught in a 24-station Macintosh computer lab. Hardware and software are regularly updated to stay current with industry standards.

Bachelor's degree option at PNCA
Students who successfully complete Whatcom's visual communications ATA degree may be eligible to transfer to the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) to earn a bachelor of fine arts with a major in graphic design. Meet with your advisor for assistance with selecting prerequisite, general education, and elective courses that will transfer. A grade of C- or better must be earned in order for a class to transfer.
PNCA awards merit-based scholarships to every admitted students, with the amount determined by the overall strength of the student's application.
