BASSW Practicum Education

During practicum placements, students will: 

  • Gain experience as generalist social work through direct and indirect practice. 
  • Gain experience in micro (individual & family), mezzo (group and interprofessional) and macro (community, organizations and policy) levels of intervention.
  • Apply the knowledge and skills they learn in the classroom in real practice settings.
  • Make a positive impact on clients, organizations, and the larger community.

 Students can complete their practicum in many settings such as: 

  • Addiction treatment programs
  • Domestic violence agencies
  • Foster care and adoption agencies
  • Hospitals and medical practices
  • Human service agencies
  • Immigrant and refugee services
  • Mental health care agencies
  • Nursing homes
  • Policy/advocacy groups
  • Rural community services
  • Schools
  • Veterans agencies
  • And many more!
