Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
New! Beginning fall 2026, Whatcom will offer its first bachelor of science degree in computer science (BSCS).
Whatcom’s BSCS degree includes a solid foundation of core classes, such as data structures and algorithms, operating systems, databases, and secure software development. On top of that, the program introduces many cutting-edge technologies used in industry, such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, robotics, embedded systems, and mobile device programming.
Developed with input from a diverse group of subject matter experts – including faculty from Washington state colleges, practicing professionals, and other educational authorities – the rigorous curriculum will equip you with advanced knowledge and skills, preparing you for the demands of the rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Entry information
Whatcom's bachelor of science in computer science degree is designed as a 2+2 program, meaning you first complete a transfer degree and then apply to enter the 300- and 400-level program. See entry information for specific eligibility requirements and deadlines to apply.
Increasing statewide capacity
This degree promotes the statewide goal to increase the number of Washington adults earning a four-year bachelor of science degree in computer science to fill the more than 24,000 job openings in the technology sector, most of which require this level of credential (SB 5401-2021-22), while also offering students an affordable alternative to a more traditional 4-year university.
Costs
The cost for Washington State residents enrolled full-time in the bachelor of science in computer science program averages approximately $2,160 per quarter for years 1 and 2 of the program and $3,170 per term for years 3 and 4, including tuition, books, and supplies.
