We strive to establish long-term relationships with our clients and remain a resource when you need assistance. We can adapt various elements of existing courses as well as create new curriculum to meet your organization’s specific needs. We provide:

What is customized training?
Whatcom Community College can customize course curriculum to the specific needs and concerns of your business or organization. Workshops and courses are taught in a standard lecture and/or hands-on format with plenty of time for questions. Groups can be as small as five people or as large as 50.
What kind of training do you provide?
We provide training in a wide variety of subject areas. If you do not find the topic you are interested in among our current customized training or open enrollment classes, please give us a call. Many of our instructors can provide training on topics that are not listed. If we don't already offer the curriculum that matches your specific needs, we can create new content geared toward your business.
Where do trainings take place?
Trainings can be presented on the Whatcom Community College campus or at your own facility. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes, and can supply books, coffee and catering (on campus), and certificates of completion for participants.
Who are your instructors?
Our instructors have years of experience in their field, substantial training experience, and friendly, engaging personalities. Most live and work here in Whatcom and Skagit Counties and are able to provide insight into the local business community.
What materials do you provide?
We can provide instructor-authored materials and/or textbooks, which enable class participants to continue to review and put into practice what they learn long after the training session has ended.
How long is the training?
Training can vary in length depending on your needs. After an initial consultation, we’ll provide a proposal complete with suggested training outline, length of time, and format. We can provide training as short as a two-hour workshop all the way up to a multi-session, quarter-long course.
Our customized training coordinator will help you determine the appropriate length of your training. Our goal is to give you the right training in the shortest time possible.
How far in advance do I need to schedule training?
Generally, we need 2-4 weeks to plan and schedule a customized training, depending on your needs and the level of customization and course development required.
What is the cost of customized training?
After the initial consultation, our customized training coordinator will provide a training proposal complete with estimated costs. Customized training is often less expensive than sending individuals to our open enrollment classes. Not only is the per-person cost less in most instances, the value of the training increases as we are able to focus on the specific skills and topics your organization requires. In many cases, we are able to incorporate examples from your business into the training, providing an opportunity for practical application of concepts taught in class.
Do I have to be a business to take advantage of your customized training services?
We do not require that our customers have a business to take advantage of customized training. We have provided training for local clubs, neighborhood groups, and nonprofit organizations. However, if you are not with a business, government agency, or nonprofit organization, we will require payment before the class begins.
