WCC Students are Guaranteed Admission to Western, When Students:

• Complete an Associate in Arts and Sciences Direct Transfer Agreement (AAS-DTA) or Associate in Science-Transfer (AS-T) degree at Whatcom Community College
• Earn a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 for each of these terms:
  1) the last quarter on your transcript when you submit your application for admission, and
  2) the last quarter on your transcript before you enroll at Western.

Additional benefits of Guaranteed Transfer Admissions

• No application fee: You can apply to Western for free, instead of having to pay the standard $70 application fee.
• No application essay: You do not have to submit the Transfer Essay that is required for most students applying to Western. If you would like your essay to be considered for scholarships, you can choose to respond to any of Western’s prompts to share your story, interests, background, or goals.

What WCC would share with Western:

• Your name and date of birth
• Your WCC student ID number
• Your email and mailing address
• When you started at WCC 
• How many college-level credits you've completed
• Your college-level GPA
• Your intended major or pathway (if you've chosen one)

What Western would share with WCC:

• Your name
• Your current application or admission status (such as guaranteed admission eligibility, applicant, admitted, etc.)
• Your academic interests or declared major at WWU

WWU Admissions staff hold workshops at WCC so that WCC students working on a transfer degree who have accrued 60 or more college-level credits can get personalized assistance completing the WWU application and receive on the spot provisional admission to WWU. Upcoming workshop dates are announced via email.
