WCC Students are Guaranteed Admission to Western, When Students:

  • Complete an Associate in Arts and Sciences Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) or Associate in Science-Transfer (AS-T) degree at Whatcom Community College
  • Earn a cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 for each of these terms:
    1) the last quarter on your transcript when you submit your application for admission, and
    2) the last quarter on your transcript before you enroll at Western.

Additional benefits of Guaranteed Transfer Admissions

  • No application fee: You can apply to Western for free, instead of having to pay the standard $70 application fee.
  • No application essay: You do not have to submit the Transfer Essay that is required for most students applying to Western. If you would like your essay to be considered for scholarships, you can choose to respond to any of Western’s prompts to share your story, interests, background, or goals.

Data Sharing with Western

If you are interested in transferring to Western and would like additional information and support, you can choose to allow WCC and Western to share data regarding your academic progress and goals.

Specifically, WCC would provide the following info to Western:

  1. First name
  2. Last name
  3. Date of birth
  4. Term of entry
  5. Email(s) on record (school, personal)
  6. Mailing address
  7. Total number of college-level credits completed
  8. College-level GPA
  9. Intended program of study or pathway, if known

And, Western would provide the following info to WCC:

  1. First name
  2. Last name
  3. Application status (guaranteed admission eligibility, applicant, admit, denied, confirmation, and enrollment)
  4. Area of academic interest
  5. Declared major

Sharing this data helps ensure that you receive timely information regarding Western application deadlines. Western will also connect you with the Western advisor from your intended program to make sure your transition into your chosen field of study is as smooth as possible.

Opting into data sharing with Western is completely optional. Both WCC and Western will strive to provide the best possible advising and admissions support regardless of whether you opt in.
