Whatcom Community College is committed to sustainability as it is included as a part of the strategic plan. Sustainability is encompassed in the core theme of enhancing effectiveness. The college “fosters a safe and sustainable environment for teaching and learning” and accomplishes this by “modeling environmental, economic, and social sustainable practices.”
Whatcom applies environmentally sustainable practices to its facilities, campus operations, curriculum, and student activities. The College is committed to providing a forum to discuss campus sustainability issues and formulating appropriate recommendations. The sustainable stewardship on campus is led by the Sustainability Committee and the student-run Sustainability Club.
