What is the difference between ASWCC Clubs and ASWCC Associations?

ASWCC Clubs

An ASWCC Club is a group of students with similar interests that meet on the second floor of Syre Student Center. Clubs are an opportunity to meet other students and spend time connecting on campus.

ASWCC Associations

ASWCC Associations have additional resources beyond student clubs. Once chartered, Associations will receive:

  • $150 quarterly allocation
  • Ability to reserve spaces across campus through the Office of Student Life
  • Hold a vote on the ASWCC Association Council

How to Start an ASWCC Club or Association

Starting a club or association is as simple as completing the ASWCC Clubs & Associations Chartering Packet! Club & Association Chartering Packets are also available at the Office of Student Life and Development in Syre Student Center 208.

The process of starting an ASWCC Club or Association is called "chartering" a club. The mission of ASWCC Clubs and Associations is to bring students together to build connections and a sense of belonging around similar interests. This means you could apply to charter an ASWCC Club or Association for anything that meets this mission—whether it is an academic interest (Engineering Club, French Club, Literature Club) a shared hobby (Hiking Club, Anime Club, Gaming Club) or just about anything you can think of!

Please do not hesitate to ask questions, find support and get involved with Student Life and Development at WCC. We are here to support all clubs and help students connect and build community.

Why Start a Club or Association?

Once a club is chartered, they have access to various funding and resources, such as:

  • Use of the name of ASWCC in connection with the club
  • Access to quarterly funding
  • Space reservations on campus
  • Advertising through the Office of Student Life & Development
  • A vote at ASWCC Association Council (which can be a way to get additional funding)
  • Representation and a vote at ASWCC Senate meetings (which can be a way to get additional funding)
