Whatcom Community College's Student Life Engagement Team is a team of student event planners. They are responsible for planning many of the campus' events and activities including club fairs, students conferences, movie nights, dances, intercultural events and much, much more. Mission: The mission of Whatcom Community College's Student Life Engagement Team is to develop team member's individual leadership skills, while providing intentional opportunities for all students to enrich their college experience by engaging with campus and the surrounding community; in order to enhance their social, cultural, and educational development.
2025-26 Student Life Engagement Team
Emma Blue (Any Pronouns)
Emma is working towards a bachelor's degree in social work at WCC. Emma hopes to create a safe and fun environment for all students while working on the Student Life Engagement Team. In their free time, Emma Blue enjoys volunteering, reading fantasy novels, drawing, and attending shows and concerts with friends.
Long Tran (He/Him)
Long is an international student from Vietnam. He has spent a year and a half studying and pursuing an Associate degree in Business at WCC. He plans to transfer to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, to continue his education. When Long first arrived in the U.S., everything felt unfamiliar, but the ASWCC Engagement Team helped him adapt and feel welcomed. Ever since then, it has been a dream of his to give back in the same way. After a long journey—one that never felt like a failure despite the challenges—becoming part of the Engagement Team now feels incredibly meaningful. Through ASWCC student leadership, Long hopes to grow his communication and teamwork skills while helping create a welcoming, supportive environment for all students. Long enjoys working out and being outside. He also likes playing pool with friends in his free time.
Tien Truong (She/Her)
Tien is an international student from Vietnam. While studying at Whatcom, she wants to complete her high school diploma and earn an associate's degree in arts and sciences, then transfer to a university in Washington state. By joining ASWCC student leadership, she wants to associate more with the Whatcom community and develop leadership skills, especially communication and decision-making. Unlike her calmness, she loves karaoke in her free time and watches some fun shows with her friends.
Reuben Philips (He/Him)
Reuben graduated from WCC in 2024 with an associate in arts and sciences, but decided he wanted to return to college for mechanical engineering. He is currently working towards a transfer degree at WCC with hopes of transferring to the University of Washington. Reuben joined the Student Life Engagement Team in February of 2025 because he is passionate about making sure that WCC is an inviting space for students to engage in social activities and make lifelong friends. In his free time, Reuben likes playing disc golf, video games, and guitar.
Noori Sidhu (She/Her)
Noori is a Running Start student working toward her associate's degree in business. After graduating, she plans to attend the University of Washington to pursue a degree in both Accounting and Finance. As an Engagement Team member, Noori hopes to create a welcoming environment where all students feel comfortable and have a place to belong. In her free time, she enjoys journaling, baking, shopping, and watching TV shows.
Nghi Luu (she/her)
Nghi is International Highschool student from Nguyen Hien High School in Vietnam. After graduating from WCC, she plans to continue her pharmacy studies at Western University. While working as front office support in the Office of Student Life and Development, Nghi hopes to do her best to create a healthy and fair community for all students to participate in. In addition, in her free time, she often plays sports, listens to music and spends time with family and friends.
Martha Guerra (they/them)
Martha is a transfer degree student intending to major in Humanities at Western Washington University. Her career plans are to get into academic research and get a doctorate to become a Humanities professor. Martha joined the Student Life Engagement team to connect with other students on campus and create enriching experiences for students to look forward to in the academic year. In their free time, they love to read a variety of genres, crochet/knit, and especially share their cat photos with others.
