Undocumented Students

WCC Supports Undocumented Students Pursuing a College Education.

Whatcom proudly stands with our fellow educators across the country in supporting undocumented students as they pursue their dreams of higher education. Our college is open to all students, regardless of their background. As an inclusive institution, our campus is a safe space for all who come in pursuit of an education.

You belong at Whatcom Community College

Below is the group of staff that works to ensure your academic and social success at WCC by supporting with transitioning into college, navigating the college system and getting involved with campus activities.

Intercultural Center

Our Intercultural Center Director, Tanya Zaragoza-Rosas would like to help create a deep sense of belonging at WCC. Ask Tanya about our student clubs and leadership opportunities.

Contact Tanya Zaragoza-Rosas, by email and ask about ways to be engaged with the campus community at Whatcom CC through events, leadership opportunities and connecting to resources at Whatcom CC and beyond.

By contacting Tanya you will be able to create a sense of belonging and engagement with the campus community. Participating in on-campus activities will set you up for success at WCC and beyond.

Enrollment Services

Our Associate Director for Admissions and Enrollment Operations, Emran Rezai, would like to welcome you and answer your questions about safety and “getting started” at Whatcom Community College.

Meet with Emran to ask questions about the general enrollment process.
Email: registration@whatcom.edu
Phone: 360.383.3038

Emran can help you complete the enrollment process by referring you to the necessary departments at the college and working through each step of the enrollment process with you. As well as, connect you with other campus resources that will help you be successful.

Financial Aid

Applying for Financial Aid is an important part of the college process and we want to connect you with financial resources that are available.

Visit our Financial Aid page for guidance, support, and to apply now for the WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid)! Contact Rico Martinez for support with completing the WASFA. Our Foundation Scholarship is open to ALL students.

When you have completed the financial aid application, you will be able to qualify for additional funding through other scholarships available to students who are Undocumented. You will also have a clearer plan for your funding options to pay for courses.

Residency & Tuition

Your residency status is based off responses to your admissions application. You could be charged more than you should be if we are missing information from the admissions application, specifically in the citizenship and residency sections. There are certain laws that may give students the ability to pay in-state tuition. We want to make sure that you are charged correctly and not paying more than you should be.

Please reach out to Emran Rezai, our Associate Director for Admissions and Enrollment Operations for questions about Residency. To set up a meeting with Emran please email, registration@whatcom.edu or call 360.383.3038.

If you applied for WASFA, you do not need to take any additional steps or show proof of residency. For information about the Washington State Higher Education Residency Affidavit (SB 5194) please visit the SB 5194 page.

This helps us to make sure to charge the correct amount for your student tuition and fees.

Academic Advising

We understand the importance of having someone to connect with who is knowledgeable about resources, career options and course requirements. Students are assigned to advisors based on their academic interests and career goals. To meet with your academic advisor, please call Orca Central at 360.383.3080 or email: welcome@whatcom.edu

By connecting with your Academic Advisor, you will be able plan and prepare for your courses and time at Whatcom CC quarter-to-quarter.
