Any student 18 or older, registered for at least 10 credits in a degree or certificate seeking program is eligible to apply for housing in Cedar Hall.

Your first step is to APPLY TO WHATCOM COMMUNITY COLLEGE to receive your student ID number and set up your network account.  

APPLY FOR HOUSING BY FOLLOWING THE STEPS BELOW:

• Log in to https://whatcom.erezlife.com
• Sign in with your network account information which is your WCC username (ex: jdoe1234) and password.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your application has been received.

COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECK:

Within 72 hours of submitting your application a link from Checkr will be sent to your student e-mail to complete your background check. The link expires after 7 days.

STEP 1: E-mail residencelife@whatcom.edu with the following information:

• First and last name
• Date of birth
• Gender Male/Female/Gender Neutral
• E-mail address

• Agree to receive SMS at this number yes or no
• Address including street, city, state, and zip code

STEP 2: After 24-48 hours you will receive an e-mail from WCC’s IT department instructing you how to SET UP YOUR NETWORK ACCOUNT.

STEP 3: APPLY FOR HOUSING, once you have set up your account.

Please be advised that rent costs are averages and rent can be lower or higher depending on location within Bellingham city limits.

Utilities are an estimated average but will vary depending on usage. Internet prices are basic prices for the services. Special promotions, bundles, or added features are not reflected in the costs.

Pay at the Cashier window in Laidlaw

The Cashier window is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm in Laidlaw. If you are having trouble with your online payment or wish to pay by credit card over by phone, please call 360-383-3363.

You must be paying your balance in full in order to pay online. To make a partial payment visit the cashier window in Laidlaw and specifically say that you are paying for housing.

After you pay your fees and complete your background check, a placement letter will be sent to your student email. This letter will let you know what unit you will be living in, your roommates, and the date/time to arrive for move in. 

Prior to your arrival move in there are a couple of things you need to do.

• Contract. Email your signed contract to residencelife@whatcom.edu.
• Get your ID card. Visit the Student Help Desk in the Learning Commons on campus. Your ID card is your access into Cedar Hall and your suite.

All rooms are single occupancy and designed for one resident. Rooms come furnished with a bed, drawers, desk, chair and closet space.

Kitchen space is shared with suitemates and includes seating, a two burner stove, microwave and a full size refrigerator. The community kitchen and the 4th floor lounge have ovens available.

Furnished living room includes comfortable seating and a smart TV.

All residents are required to submit a move out intention in erezlife at least 30 days before their move out date to remain eligible for the $250 refundable deposit. Residents must move out the Sunday after the end of the quarter if they do not intend to remain in housing for the following quarter. 

A move out inspection is scheduled with Residence Life staff. A calendar invite with instructions on next steps and how to prepare your unit for your move out inspection will be provided. To avoid additional fees being added to your account it is strongly recommended to be present for your move out inspection. Please be ready for your scheduled inspection. If you need to change your date/time of departure contact Residence Life staff.

Additional fees may be added to your account for issues of concern including but not limited to failure to leave your keys/parking permit, damage to your unit (walls, furniture, appliances, blinds, mattress, etc), items left behind, and if additional cleaning is required.

All residents will be contacted via email on the status of their refundable deposit within two weeks of move out.

Residents of Cedar Hall and their guests are held accountable to the Whatcom Community College Code of Conduct as well as federal, state, and local ordinances. In addition, residents and guests are expected to follow the policies defined in the Residence Life Handbook.
