Welcome to the financial aid student portal, a secure website provided by Whatcom Community College so students can view their financial aid status and awards 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Although spring quarter begins on April 15th, financial aid refunds for spring quarter will be sent to BankMobile for disbursement beginning April 7th. Students who need credits adjusted or are required to submit a Petition for Reinstatement of Aid may have a delay in the processing of their refund.

Logging in

  • Login here
  • Your user name is your social security number.
  • Your password is your date of birth in MMDDYY format.
  • Example: July 1, 1980 would be 070180.

Verify FAFSA information has been received

  • Go to the "Information We Need From You" section.
  • If your FAFSA information has been received, there will be a "FAFSA Data Received" message and the date the FAFSA information was received will be listed.

Find out what is required to complete the financial aid process 

  • Go to the "Information We Need From You" section.
  • If your FAFSA information has been received, there will be other items required. These items may be documents which you need to bring to the Financial Aid Office such as signed federal income tax returns or proof of citizenship.
  • One or more forms will always be required. The line items that list a required form will display a down arrow. If you click on that arrow, you will be directed to an electronic copy of that form which you can fill out on your computer and then print.
  • Completed forms may be mailed or faxed to the Financial Aid Office. 

Verify financial aid requirements have been met

  • Go to the "Information We Need From You" section.
  • Once your requirements are reviewed and accepted, the date the item is accepted is listed in the "Date Received" column.
  • If all of your required items have a "Date Received", your known requirements have been met.
  • Your file will be reviewed as part of the financial aid awarding process. During the review process, additional items may be required. You will be sent an email (to your FAFSA email address) telling you to go to the student portal to see any new requirements. 

Verify Federal Direct Student Loan requirements

  • Whatcom Community College is a direct loan school.
  • New students and returning students who have not had Federal Direct Student Loans through WCC will need to use the Federal Direct Student Loan process, which can be accessed on the Federal Direct Student Loan page.
  • Once a student completes the Federal Direct Student Loan process and their eligibility has been confirmed the following direct loan requirements will be posted:
    1. Federal Direct Student Loan entrance counseling
    2. Federal Direct Student Loan promissory note
    3. Federal Direct Student Student Loan worksheet
  • As the Financial Aid Office determines that each of these requirements have been met, an acceptance date is listed in the "Date Received" column.
  • If all of your student loan requirements have dates entered in the "Date Received" column, then your loan requirements have been met and your loan is being processed. 

View your financial aid awards

  • Once your financial aid file has been reviewed, if you are eligible for grants, work study or scholarships, you will be awarded and an email will be sent to your FAFSA email address alerting you of financial aid awards.
  • To view your awards, go to the "Awards" section of the student portal.
  • If you want a paper copy of your awards, you can print the list of awards from the portal.
  • Your financial aid awards are based on full-time status (12 or more credits). You must notify the financial aid office of the following:
    1. If you enroll for less than full-time
    2. If you will graduate at the end of fall or winter quarter
    3. If you do not plan to attend one or more of the quarters for which you have awards
  • Please be aware that if you are enrolled, your tuition and fees are automatically paid from your awards. You must officially withdraw or your financial aid awards will be cancelled and you will owe Whatcom Community College for your tuition and fees. If you decide not to attend, it is your responsibility to officially drop your classes within the 100% refund/drop period of the quarter (which is the first week of the quarter).
  • Work study awards do not apply toward tuition and fees. A work study award is only an estimate of what you might earn if you are hired for a work study position. For more information on the WCC work study program, visit the Work Study page.
  • If you have applied for a Federal Direct Student Loan and have met all of the requirements, when your loan is processed and certified, you will be sent an email notice to your FAFSA email address notifying you that your loan(s) have been processed and that the award amounts can be viewed in the "Awards" section of the student portal. 

Obtain an official award letter

  • If you need a printed copy of your official award letter contact the Financial Aid Office in Laidlaw Center 135 and one can be faxed or mailed to you. 

Determine whether you have a disbursement or refund

  • A few days prior to the start of each quarter, financial aid awards are applied to student's tuition and fees for the new quarter.
  • If the student's awards exceed the amount of their tuition and fees, the student has a credit balance which is disbursed using BankMobile (formerly Higher One).
  • To determine if you have a disbursement, go to the "Information We Need From You" section of the student portal. As disbursements or refunds are available, they are listed in this section as being sent to BankMobile.
  • The date in the "Date Received" column is the date the disbursement was calculated; funds are sent the following day to BankMobile. Listed under the "Additional Info" column is the amount of the disbursement or refund.
  • Please note that disbursements are calculated each evening, funds are not sent to BankMobile until the following day. Availability of funds depends on the student's chosen method of disbursement with BankMobile.
  • If a disbursement is listed but there is a "0" listed as the amount, your award did not exceed your tuition and a disbursement or refund is not sent to BankMobile.
