BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25 WCC's PHYSICAL CAMPUS CLOSED, ONLINE SERVICES CONTINUE

Whatcom Community College’s physical campus is closed beginning 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2020 for a minimum of two weeks to ensure alignment with Washington State Governor Jay Inslee’s statewide “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order. Online instruction and working remotely will continue. Students and employees should not come to campus during this time. Spring quarter instruction will still begin online on Wednesday, April 15.

It is important to emphasize that Whatcom Community College remains operational and dedicated to ensuring the academic mission continues through this challenging time. We have moved services and instruction online to the greatest extent possible to keep our community healthy. Remote services will differ for various service areas, departments, and resources. Visit this remote services directory to learn how you can easily access the WCC services you need without visiting campus.

Please continue to check your email and www.whatcom.edu/COVID19 for regular updates.

Covid 19 Update

The Learning Center is open and support is available to students. Most tutoring has shifted online. Please access this support by going to Canvas and entering "The Learning Center W20" course on your desktop.

In person staffing for things like weekend tutoring in the Library is dependent on the availability of tutors.

The Math Center offers FREE drop-in and reservation-based tutoring for all currently enrolled WCC students.

We offer support for WCC math and math related courses including:

  • Basic Math
  • Pre-Algebra
  • Elementary and Intermediate Algebra
  • Math in Society
  • Statistics
  • Pre-Calculus and Calculus
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science

Drop-in tutoring

Simply show up with your work, and tutors on staff will assist you. Some students use the location as a study hall, only using tutors when they run into problems; other students work with tutors multiple times each day, asking for explanations, verification of answers, and general support.

Reservation-based tutoring

Individualized tutoring with a tutor in a quiet and private location. Where drop-in tutors are helping everyone in the Math Center, you will have the reservation-based tutor’s undivided attention for 25-50 minutes at a time. You can schedule up to three 25-minute sessions of reservation tutoring each week. To reserve a session, come to Cascade 117 where you will find a sign up sheet on the bulletin board next to our reservation-based tutoring room.

Other support

We also have computers available, WAMAP support, calculator assistance, handouts, workshops, textbooks to use, and more...
